About This Tour Package
Starting from Pune, this package is run by Aman Tours and Travels with pick-up from Hadapsar, Magarpatta, Kharadi, Wagholi, Shivajinagar, Swargate, Kothrud, Hinjewadi, Pune railway station and the airport.
Kolhapur is a city of heritage, devotion and food. It is home to the Mahalaxmi (Ambabai) temple, one of the Shakti Peethas, and is also famous for Kolhapuri chappals, jaggery and spicy misal and tambda rassa.
Our Kolhapur package covers the main spiritual and historical places in two days. After the highway drive via Satara and Karad, you visit the Mahalaxmi temple, the Old Palace and New Palace Museum and Rankala Lake. On the second day we head to Jotiba temple on the hilltop and the historic Panhala Fort, which has strong links to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Tarabai. There is plenty of time for shopping and local food.
The route follows NH48 and is smooth for most of the distance, so travelling by cab is comfortable even for elders. We offer Sedan, Ertiga, Innova Crysta, Tempo Traveller and bus options. If you want to add Jyotiba and Narsobachi Wadi, or Ratnagiri and the Konkan, we can extend the tour.
Kolhapur is a place where good planning adds value. The Mahalaxmi temple has specific darshan timings and crowds on Tuesdays, Fridays and festival days, while Panhala Fort is best seen in the morning light. Our package schedules each place when it is most enjoyable and leaves time for tasting Kolhapuri misal, buying chappals and visiting jaggery markets. The result is a tour that feels full but not tiring, and families return with both blessings and good memories.
Tips for the visit: wear traditional or modest clothing at the Mahalaxmi temple, and avoid carrying large bags. Winter, from October to March, is the best season for sightseeing. Try Kolhapuri misal, pandhra and tambda rassa for the true local flavour, and buy chappals only from trusted shops. If you plan to climb Jotiba on festival days, expect long queues and plan extra time.
From Pune the route follows NH48 for about 230 km and takes 5 to 5.5 hours. The highway is wide and smooth, so the journey is comfortable even in a sedan.
From Pune, we can fix the pick-up point and time according to your convenience, even in the early hours of the morning for long routes. Our drivers handle city traffic and highway driving with equal confidence.
